“The odds of going to the store for a loaf of bread and coming out with only a loaf of bread are three billion to one.” -Erma Bombeck

The first whispers of fall can be heard around town. Leaves are starting to turn their vivid mixture of yellow, orange and gold. The air is cooler—almost delightfully crisp—and parking (at least on the weekdays) is a lot easier than a month ago. So, I’m going shopping. Provincetown is home to some of the best boutique shopping in New England. I love walking into uncrowded stores thinking that I have all the end of season merchandise to myself! No matter if you’re after bespoke home furnishings, designer clothing, fine art or perhaps a stunning new piece of jewelry P-Town has your covered. I’ve got my new favorites and my old standbys. So, without further ado, here is my shortlist of must visit shops in Provincetown.

MAP A men’s shop featuring apparel, books and gifts that is always up to date. Located right on Commercial Street this place features a wonderfully curated selection of brands that you may expect to see only in NY or LA. Oh, and the best part is that their shop gets an extra bonus for outstanding customer service.

Wardrobe Unique and beautiful women’s clothing where you can find everything from comfortably casual to that new favorite dress. Make sure you set aside plenty of extra time to chat with Steve!

Shor If I could furnish my entire home with the help of the folks from Shor, I would. I visit this shop frequently just to see what’s new. I love the combination of modern, traditional and vintage furnishings

Room68 With a showroom that just opened in 2014, Room68 is one of the new kids on the block. This small shop is a joyous celebration of contemporary art and design. For me, this shop is all about the crazy textures and colors.

Berta Walker Gallery A mainstay in the Cape arts community, the Berta Walker Gallery always has tastefully curated exhibitions. The staff is always knowledgeable and informative when it comes to making decisions about which piece to purchase.

Schoolhouse Gallery Showing some of the best contemporary painting and sculpture on the Cape.

Exuma Jewelry A fabulous collection of gold, silver and precious stones in custom settings…what more does one need? If you want a distinctive piece or just something to wear casually this well know Provincetown jeweler will not disappoint in terms of quality and service.

The Captain’s Daughters Part tea shop, part apothecary, part art gallery and more, this shop’s offerings look random on paper but makes total sense in person, thanks to the exquisite taste of its two founders. A shop where I can pick up both a hand-crafted tote bag and a steaming hot cuppa tea is a win.
