I would rather not count the number of hours I spend decluttering my house every week. It’s a relentless slog. Don’t get me wrong, I love Christmas and the holiday season. I love the warmth and joy that can come from giving a surprise, well-thought out gift to a loved one. The part that stresses me out the most? Finding a place for all the unneeded knick-knacky “filler” gifts that I seem to come home with on Christmas Day. So let’s be honest here. Who needs more “stuff”? Exactly nobody. So for gift giving ideas this year, I’m all about experiences…a cruise on a sailboat, a special weekend away, a dinner out—these are just my speed. If you are looking for ideas that won’t ever populate the sock drawer, have a read below. No wrapping required!

A Boat Ride

If you’ve only ever enjoyed Cape Cod from the shore, this is definitely something to add to your list. Cape Cod Bay, Race Point, whale watching, a sport fishing trip—it’s all here. Provincetown by water is another world. For pleasure cruises, check out Provincetown Boat Charters or sail on the Schooner Hindu. Sportfishing? Provincetown Charter Fishing will be more your speed. For your own personal whale watch, visit Sea Salt Charters.

A Weekend Getaway

Well, we’re a hotel and spa, so I had to give a plug for our Cape Escape Package which includes accommodations, meals, and treatments in our luxurious, award-winning spa, Shui Spa. A weekend in Ptown, filled with delicious food and equally delicious spa treatments? Best. Gift. Ever.

A Creative Retreat

Got an artist or writer in your midst? Feed their creative soul by gifting them one of the Fine Arts Work Center’s acclaimed workshops. Poetry, Memoir, Fiction, Non-fiction, visual arts of all kinds—FAWC has it all. The writing workshops happen all year and are also available online.

A Tour With a Kick

I actually don’t think there are any boring tour guides in Provincetown. They went extinct a long time ago. Instead, we’ve got off-road dune tours courtesy of Art’s Dune Tours. You can ride along in the sidecar of a 1986 Honda CMX motorcycle with Sidekick Sidecars. Ptown Pedicabs offers customized tours of whatever you want: galleries, downtown, graveyards, history, and more.
